The inspiration for this mural was simple, show music in an artistic and bigger than life way. The mural would only be seen for a few seconds at a time as the cars drive by so it was important to be large, easy to understand, and look like a painting and not a postcard. The key was to make sure the guitar was actually being played, the large hands make the mural come alive far more than if it was just the guitar by itself. The colorful patterns behind the guitar represent music without being too campy (i.e., notes or bars of music) but still doesn’t compete with the foreground. Jason says, “It was a lot of fun to paint and Jon Hasz, the owner of the store, put in plenty of input to make sure the guitar was technically correct.”
